Our five years
Thoughts about the past and a look into the future.
We were in our late 20s when we cleared and renovated an old hairdresser salon to give more space to our projects and ideas.
Everything happened right after the exciting times of the University and some unsatisfying jobs here and there.
In January of 2009, we did Innove: web solutions, e-commerce and corporate identity.
We wanted to stand out, to make quality projects, to study and to continually improve on everything that involved the web. It all seemed very clear.
After and initial ramp up and tough staff selection we consolidated the core team and we were ready to face a very challenging industry especially in our area.
As a matter of fact this market has been mostly deteriorated and disrupted by people and providers with low expertise, little quality and a mostly unique target to cash in quickly and deliver poorly.
With this framework it was up to us to re-establish the missing trust with our clients and working together to make them aware of the efficiency and importance of the new technological tools and services we could deliver.
But that wasn’t enough: in addition to websites and web design we always thought that our target was to support our clients by providing them other tools and services.
We went through email marketing, customer service and Froolic: a free web portal to quickly share and search for events. It was an essential process that allowed us to refine and streamline many of our internal and external processes.
Some important lesson learned:
- Phasing the adaptation of new solutions to our local context: we are not living in a "tekkie savvy" region such as the Silicon Valley and integration to new products can be sensibly slowed down by scepticism.
- Understanding that setbacks are part of the job: we cannot deliver always right first time as everybody wish! Hence, more importance to testing testing and testing.
- Good ideas are not enough, it take some more leap of faith to succeed in what you believe!
- Learning to be patient and persevere
Along came 2009 the year of recession where the every day topics were crisis, unemployment and entrepreneurs who do not find young people that fit their needs.
The problem is perhaps antithetical: many entrepreneurs are inadequate and our old fashion economy needed a steer: with our great pleasure many young people approached us to talk about their ideas and we came across good entrepreneurs as a proof that our "factory-oriented" region has also great fresh talents that can make a change and improve things day after day.
In 2012 we met Diskos, a graphic and communication school, from which we host interns for graphics and web design every year.
2014 opens with a brand new identity and awareness: we want to communicate strongly and transparently who we are and how we work. http://www.innove.it
It was a long journey that lasted almost a year and has completely defined the way we present ourselves.
